Immersion

To mark the centenary of the historic Florentine boutique Panerai, the Marino Marini Museum in Florence is hosting “Immersion,” an exhibition celebrating the Maison’s history and heritage.
It is a journey that begins in 19th-century Florence and leads to the realms of contemporary exploration.

Open daily from September 11 to 19, the exhibition features an immersive path that winds from the original artisan workshop to the marine world.
The experience unfolds within the Museum’s evocative crypt, transformed into a narrative space where settings, images, sounds, and installations guide visitors through the places and experiences that have shaped Panerai’s evolution. From the historic "Orologeria Svizzera"— a cornerstone of Florentine watchmaking culture—to the workshop where professional instruments for the Italian Navy were crafted, and on to the ocean depths and the most extreme environments: each stage tells a different story of engaging with time, space, and environmental limits.

Immersion” does more than recount a brand’s history; it explores the relationship between humanity and the environments that challenge our capabilities and ingenuity. Ocean depths, ice, navigation, and rugged landscapes form the common thread of a journey where Panerai watches reveal the purpose of their design — engineered to withstand extreme conditions.
The journey concludes with a tribute to the sea and navigation—elements deeply rooted in Panerai’s history that continue to inspire its ongoing research. Nautical instruments and contemporary chronographs come together to convey a vision of exploration that looks both to the past and to the challenges of the present.
