Franco Zeffirelli (1923-2019) was an Italian stage and film director, producer, production designer and politician. The Franco Zeffirelli Centre promotes culture linked to the performing arts and the training of students in the disciplines of theatre, opera and cinema. Located at the monumental Complex of San Firenze, which was closed for many years, the museum that opened to the public in 2017 displays over 300 works, among stage drafts, customs designs, models and costumes made by the artist in the seventy years of his career. The itinerary ends in the Sala dell’Inferno, where a short film is projected in full HD, made by animating the designs that the artist created to give life to his personal vision of Hell, drawn from the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are temporary exhibitions on a regular basis, dedicated to the most famous theatre artists worldwide.
